Congratulations to Head Girls’ Tennis Coach Jessica Seibert and the Girls’ Varsity Tennis team. Special congratulations to tennis players and sisters Dell and and Elle Taylor. These Lady Sea Hawks teamed up for doubles and beat the number 1 seed from Palos Verdes High School to advance to the CIF Finals. The CIF Doubles Tournament will be played at the end of November. Congratulations again ladies!
GENERAL STUDENT

Get ready to view and discuss one of Hitchcock’s famous scenes this Tuesday, Nov 17 at lunch in Room 201 with the Film Appreciation Club.
All students who took CELDT should have received the scores in the mail. They must return the Notification letter signed by a parent/guardian. Bring the letter ASAP to the EL Office at the Career Center. Thanks.
Make –A-Wish Club is still collecting change and will soon be collecting toys. The toys will be sent to the Make-A-Wish Foundation to be distributed to children before the holidays.
Reminder to seniors taking health through BYU online must complete all 8 chapters and have the final test requested by the end of winter break!! When counselors return from winter break and see that you are not done, you will be automatically enrolled in health on our campus for 2nd semester. See your counselor with questions!!
The second California Math League (CAML) Contest of the year will be held tomorrow, Tuesday November 17 at lunch in Room 316. You can earn extra credit in your math class (Geometry or higher) by answering these non-routine problems correctly!
PICK UP PHOTOS!! Students who prepaid and ordered photo packages from Lifetouch Photographers need to pick up their photos in room 202. You’ll want these wonderful photos to give out during the holiday season!
Any seniors interested in interning for Northrop Grumman, please contact Mr. Schonberg. This intern is an exciting opportunity, which usually leads to future jobs.
All RUHS students are required to have their ID card when they are on campus. If you do not have an ID card, please come to room 202 @ lunch each Tuesday. If you lost your ID card please come to room 202 before school, snack, lunch or after school. Cost is $10; no charge for first ID card to students entering RUHS after 9/28/09.
TO ALL STUDENTS: When buying meals, please enter your ID number, even when using cash. Only one meal can be purchased per student ID.
CAREER CENTER – Center visiting times: before & after school, snack & lunch. The Center is closed during class periods.
SENIOR INFORMATION MEETINGS

Weekly Senior Information Meetings are held Wednesdays during lunch to provide seniors with the most current information about colleges and scholarships and answer your questions.
College Application Info:
CSU applications deadline is November 30. Go to www.csumentor.edu to apply.
UC application deadline is November 30 (application now available for preparation). Go to www.universityofcalifornia.edu to apply. Ruth Rodriguez, UCLA admissions representative will review personal statements for students applying to the UCs. Copy and paste personal statement into the body of your e-mail and include your name. Subject: Redondo Union H.S. Send statements by Monday, November 9, to rrodriguez@saonet.ucla.edu.
The common application is accepted by 391 colleges. Go to commonapp.org for information and to download forms.
Last dates for seniors to take ACT and SAT for college applications are the December 2009 test dates. Late deadline to register for SAT is November 12.

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is required by colleges for financial aid consideration. Each student and one of the student’s parents should apply.
There will be a Financial Aid Night for seniors and their parents on January 14, 2010, 6:00 p.m., in the RUHS Cafeteria.
College Visits in College & Career Center (students must pick up pass to participate from College & Career Center at least one day before visit):
Tuesday, Nov 17 with Milwaukee School of Engineering at 8:15 a.m. (pick up pass from Center by Monday, Nov 16).

Tutoring
The public library now offers a free online “Live” tutoring service (where trained tutors are available) for all levels and subjects. They recently applied for and received a grant to pay for this. Simply go to:
on the main screen there is an icon for the free tutoring, which is available from 1 to 10 p.m. The students need a library card number in order to be able to access this fabulous and free service!
